F-Wave, headquartered in Burleson, TX, formed in 2015 with a focus on revolutionizing the roofing industry. The breakthrough technology in the Revia shingle line was in development for eight years. They use commercial-grade polymer & a layer of what their representative says is like T.P.O. which is widely known as one of the best commercial flat roofing materials. This process makes their shingles stronger, lighter, and easier to maintain. This technology, combined with the F-Wave teams’ decades of experience coming from companies like Owens Corning, GAF, ABC Supply and DECRA make for a formidable company and a warranty unlike we have seen before .
Benefits for F-Wave Revia Technology:
Hail Resistance-In Colorado, this is something we all care about. With the hail storms that have plagued the front range for decades, replacing roofs has become common place. F-Wave set out to change that. This is currently the only product that has the U.L. Class 4 rating (2" steel ball test) and the ANSI FM-4473 rating.
Self Healing- These shingles display a self healing technology. In testing, we have scratched one of these (on purpose) and after application of a heat gun, it returned to form.
130 mph wind rating- With only a four nail application.
No granules- This in turn solves common asphalt shingle issues such as granule loss with age or bad weather. Having no granules, make it easier and safer to walk on, no messy granules coming down through your downspouts, and no color variation in different bundles due to slightly different granule colors.
Sustainability- The materials that are used in F-Wave shingles are virgin materials, making them stronger. Unlike some other products in the market that use recycled tires as the main ingredient, F-Wave shingles practices their commitment to the environment by stating that they will recycle their own material from their roofing products should a roof ever need to be replaced.
Class A fire rating- Some of the rubberized products in market that use recycled tires (we appreciate that) have some downfalls such as smelling like burned rubber in the summer heat and more importantly they do not have a Class A fire rating, which some cities and counties require.
The shingles have a great tear strength (2.5 x standard asphalt shingles) and are resistant to cracking and fading.
Aesthetics- The current line up of Revia Shingles include Hand Split Shake, Designer Slate American Blend & Designer Slate Estate Series. They all have a thick profile, giving them an ultra dimensional look of high end roof tiles.
Cost - In terms of product to product, these shingle roughly mirror that of Stone Coated Steel. The Hand Split Shake product is slightly higher of a cost to the market. In terms of savings, you can look at your ROI in terms of this being a forever roof as the likely hood of replacing these looks very low. Insurance savings are another factor. Currently most major insurance companies give a discount for Class 4 shingles. Last we heard, F-Wave was in discussion with insurance companies, discussing even deeper discounts. The way we see it, with a 5 year hail warranty on these shingles, why pay for an extra writer on your insurance for your roof when F-Wave is covering hail loss during those first 5 years?
Our conclusion about the F-Wave product is this, you have a company putting up a warranty that truly backs their product in quality and hail resistance. It looks great and checks all the boxes. If you are interested in having a consultation to see, touch and feel this great product and get an estimate on your own property, we would be happy to assist you!
